Golden LivingCenters
Amy Smith began her career with Golden Living 12 years ago at
Golden LivingCenter – Greenville in North Carolina, where she spent
10 years working as the Recreation Services Director.
Two years ago, Amy stepped into a one-of-a-kind role with the
company and became the Therapeutic Programs Consultant for Ohio,
Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and California. On a daily basis, she
offers guidance to the Recreation Services Directors in these
states to help them provide resident-focused quality care. In
addition, Amy coordinates with Directors of Operations and Clinical
Services Consultants and works on company-wide projects, such as
the implementation of the Nintendo® WiiTM in various
LivingCenters.
Amy loves her career with Golden Living. Why? "I enjoy
developing and implementing new programs for our residents," she
explains, "especially ones like the Wii programs that staff and
families can also be involved in. I get to do what I do based on
the needs of individual LivingCenters. This is a great job!"
Amy believes that listening to people is one of the most
important ways to provide excellent service. "You need to be able
to think on your feet to choose what works best for people," she
explains. "Nothing is 'one-size-fits-all'."
Amy’s 12 year career demonstrates Golden Living’s opportunities
for advancement, and she praises the opportunities she’s had for
professional growth. She is also grateful to her supervisor and
President of her division, Julianne Williams, for recognizing the
importance of Recreation Services in providing a higher quality of
life for our residents.
