  • Side benefit of statin drug includes lower infection rates

    Sep. 07, 2011

Some people must be asking themselves: Is there nothing statins can't do? New research suggests that atorvastin (Lipitor) is not only successful at reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and heart attacks, but also reduces the risk of acquiring a potentially fatal infectious disease.

It is great being able to share my thoughts with you again. The last three month saw us holding celebrations with our staff during our annual Steak and Bake. The Recruitment and Retention Committee grills on all three shifts so our employees can see how they are appreciated. It is quite different to smell steak at 2:30 a.m., but thoroughly enjoyed by the night shift. The day and evening shifts were treated as well. This was an event enjoyed by all.

Our Hog Roast Dinner was another big success. We served over 350 people, with resident families celebrating dinner together, birthday celebrations and anniversary parties during this wonderful event. Thanks to the staff who cooked, served, bussed tables, and to the line dancers who entertained us.

All of our resident rooms have satellite television hookup. We have been committed to providing a variety of stations and programs for your family member's enjoyment. Several sports-related channels, including NFL Channel, Big Ten Network and ESPN are available. When residents and families request certain channels, I investigate the possibility of making that channel available. This communication made The Food Network, Fox News, The Military Channel and the NFL Channel possible as program selections. I have made every effort to keep television viewing affordable for all. We have been able to keep our charge to $10 per month per resident. If your family member no longer watches television, please remove the television from the room and inform the office so we can stop billing for this service.
